Starting with your vision board

Why a Vision Board is Fundamental to Reaching Your Goals
A vision board is more than just a creative exercise—it’s a powerful tool to clarify your aspirations and keep you inspired throughout the year. By visualising your goals, you create a tangible representation of what you want to achieve, which helps align your daily actions with your long-term objectives. For florists, it’s an opportunity to dream big and focus on growth areas like client relationships, creative projects, or financial milestones while tapping into your artistic energy.
Research shows that when you consistently visualise success, you’re more likely to stay motivated, take actionable steps, and overcome challenges. A vision board keeps your goals front and center, serving as a daily reminder of your "why" and guiding you toward intentional decisions for your business.
I always save my current year vision board as my desktop on my computer so i'm reminded of it every time I open my laptop. You may shoose to print yours, or make it he background on your phone. It becomes most effective when you see it several times a week if not daily.
How to Create a Vision Board
Step 1: Reflect on the Year Behind You
Take a moment to assess the highs and lows of the past year.
What worked well in your life? What didn’t?
Identify key areas you want to improve or grow in 2025.
Step 2: Define Your Goals for the New Year Focus on goals that feel exciting and purposeful. These might include:
Financial goals: Increasing revenue, raising prices, or booking more premium clients.
Creative goals: Experimenting with new designs, floral techniques, or collaborations.
Marketing goals: Growing your social media presence or launching a new website.
Lifestyle goals: Achieving a better work-life balance or taking more personal time. I personally prefer to keep my visial board to more of the creative and lifestyle goals.
Step 3: Gather Your Supplies
A large board (corkboard, poster board, or a digital alternative like Canva).
Scissors, glue, pins, or tape.
Magazines, printed photos, or digital images.
Markers, stickers, or other decorative materials.
Step 4: Curate Inspiring Visuals
Look for images, quotes, and words that resonate with your goals.
For Example
Pictures of dream wedding installations or floral arrangements you aspire to create.
Words like “growth,” “balance,” or “creativity” to represent your intentions.
Financial milestones (e.g., a mock-up revenue target or luxury event venues).
Inspirational quotes about resilience and entrepreneurship.
Step 5: Organise by Categories You can choose to divide your board into sections based on your business priorities:
Creative Vision: Photos and ideas for designs or installations you want to bring to life.
Business Growth: Financial goals, client types, or services to expand.
Personal Well-being: Time for rest, hobbies, or self-care.
Marketing & Branding: Social media growth, website ideas, or collaborations. I like a more scattered approach!
Step 6: Assemble Your Board
Arrange your images and quotes thoughtfully, leaving room for new ideas to grow.
Use color or layout to differentiate categories and make it visually appealing.
Step 7: Display Your Vision Board
Place your board somewhere you’ll see it daily, like your office or studio.
For digital boards, set it as your desktop wallpaper or save it on your phone for easy access.
Step 8: Use It as a Guide Throughout the Year
Refer back to your vision board regularly to stay inspired and check your progress.
Make adjustments as your goals evolve, and celebrate milestones along the way.
Why It Works
Creating a vision board gives your goals focus, intention, and life. It helps you connect emotionally with your aspirations, which can keep you motivated on tough days and steer you toward making decisions aligned with your dream business. For florists, it’s the perfect way to blend creativity with strategy as you plan for a successful and fulfilling year ahead!
